Main Tasks
The Renewable Energy Project Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa will have the following missions:
- Develop projects from pre-feasibility to the start of construction, then support the commissioning;
- Design economically viable projects within procedures and in compliance with national and international regulations, in consultation with local stakeholders;
- Obtain or supervise the obtaining of all administrative authorizations (land reservation, construction permits, operating licenses, energy sales contracts, etc.) and ensure their follow-up;
- Lead and coordinate feasibility studies, including environmental impact studies (including thematic studies) and technical sizing studies of projects (wind/solar resources, grid connection, etc.), relying on internal and external experts while ensuring compliance with project budgets and timelines;
- Particularly, contribute to the search for third-party financiers, obtain financing terms, ensure the proper conduct of related audits, and do your best to finalize all necessary documents for the conclusion of financing contracts within the planned schedule;
- Manage and coordinate (in close relation with the Sub-Saharan Africa Director) the potential actions of local partners or co-developers, ensuring an effective and constructive relationship;
- Initiate, organize, and lead work and presentation meetings, ensure the consultation and information of project stakeholders;
- Participate in technical, regulatory, and commercial prospective monitoring, notably by participating in events related to the activity sectors and building a network;
- Actively monitor and identify calls for tenders and project calls, and be capable of responding to them;
- Prepare and write responses adapted to the context, defend them to be selected, and organize the company’s positioning to enrich the project portfolio;
- Report on activity via periodic activity reports and tracking tools provided;
- Prepare project presentations and documentation for presentation to banks;
- Establish Project Forecast Budgets (studies, then investment) and Business Plans in conjunction with Group services;
- Contribute to the improvement of company projects and feedback;
- Manage the project scope with great autonomy within the defined objectives and take a referent role under the responsibility of the Africa Directorate.
Skills Required
- Education: Engineering/Master in Environment, Economics degree, with significant experience in developing large-scale renewable energy projects abroad.
- Skills: Good interpersonal and writing skills, strong knowledge in renewable energies.
- IT: Proficient with standard IT tools and planning software.
- Traits: Rigorous, methodical, enjoys teamwork but also capable of working with great autonomy.
- Language: Professional proficiency in English is essential.
