On October 28th, the assembly of the last tower of the Serra do Mato wind project, located in Trairi, in the state of Ceará, was completed. The complex now consists of 29 V150 / 4.2MW wind turbines, totalizing 121.8 MW of installed power capacity.
The turbines were assembled in record time thanks to synchronized team work, the construction eventually being achieved ahead of schedule. The project will also include the installation of another 101 MW solar project and expected to be commissioned in 2022.
“We have delivered another tranche of the Serrote/Serra do Mato Wind Complex, a very important achievement for Qair in Brazil said Luiz Santos, Director of Development and Construction at Qair Brasil. Having installed 29 additional wind turbines, we are adding 121.8 MW to the Brazilian energy matrix, at a time when the country so badly needs it.”
The Serra do Mato Wind Complex is indeed an expansion of the Serrote Wind Complex (205 MW), also located in Trairi, Ceará. Together, they add up to 78 completed wind turbines that were built in partnership with Danish company Vestas.
