Offshore Wind Technical Development Lead M/F – Qair Spain

The group is expanding its Offshore Wind Renewable Energy activity in Spain and Portugal and aims to strengthen its skills in project technical development.
Within the Qair Iberian team and reporting functionally to the Offshore Director the Offshore Wind Technical Development Lead coordinates the technical relationship as the business and technical interface of Qair’s iberian team with in-house or external stakeholders in Spain and Portugal and supports the development of the offshore wind projects.

The position is based in Madrid with business trips in Spain and Portugal.

Main Tasks

The main duties of the Offshore Wind Technical Development Lead are to:

  • Lead the technical development of the Offshore Wind projects as well as lead the development of the local supply chain in collaboration with the business developers and Stakeholder managers. Ensure technical aspects of the projects, including design, engineering, and construction;
  • In collaboration with the Offshore Wind Director and the Bid Manager, support the preparation of the Offshore Wind project bids for the upcoming auctions in Spain and Portugal;
  • Lead contract negotiations with subcontractors and manage the fulfillment of their scope of work;
  • Lead local supply chain relationships and establishing, if relevant, partnerships for ensuring the competitiveness of our bids in the Offshore Wind competitive processes;
  • Evaluate and follow-up the local, regional and national regulations as well as the Offshore Wind competitive process rules with the aim of to be further implemented in the Technical and Supply chain strategies;
  • To support the Offshore Wind Director on identifying new opportunities regarding offshore wind activities in Spain and Portugal (R&D, port projects, etc.);
  • Ensure elaboration of management reports to follow-up on performance, from different perspectives: financial, technical, energy market, etc.
  • Prepare and present investment memorandums from a greenfield project development and/or acquisition perspective if the case may happen;
  • Secure a network of key industrials and technicals stakeholders to reach successful competitive process bids and permitting for realization of such projects;
  • Responsible for a smooth cooperation between the different internal departments;
  • Communicate effectively across the organization, handover effectively to the upper Management representatives;
  • Report on activities at Group management meetings;
  • Support other company departments during the negotiation process for some key contracts when required (Energy Management for PPA, Finance for Project Finance, etc.).

Skills Required

  • 5 years of experience minimum in offshore projects on technical and development positions, preferably Wind.
  • She / He has a master’s degree in engineering.
  • She / He has developed the knowledge of understanding and managing complex financial models.
  • She / He must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Portuguese will be a plus.
  • Furthermore, She / He is rigorous, methodical and appreciates teamwork, and is able to work with a great deal of autonomy.
