Qair issues first Euro PP Green Bond of €43.7 million
Paris, February 24, 2022 – Qair, a French independent renewable energy producer, announces the success of its first green bond issue in the amount of €43,7 million, which will enable the group to finance new power plants in Europe.
Strong success with institutional investors
With this first Green Bond issued by Qair, the group has made strict commitments in terms of use of the funds raised, such as traceability of the investments made and reporting, in accordance with the 2021 edition of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA)’s Green Bond Principles.
The issue was a great success with institutional investors. The bonds maturing in 2027 were placed in Europe exclusively, with qualified investors as part of an offering exempt from the obligation to publish a prospectus, as defined in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 2017/1129 of June 14, 2017.
Financing the group’s European growth
The proceeds of this issue will finance new renewable energy assets in Europe. Qair has been advised by CIC as arranger and lead manager, with the support of Crédit Agricole Languedoc as co-arranger, and the participation of Allen & Overy (legal counsel to the investors) and BCLP (legal counsel to the issuer).
1GW of assets in operation targeted by the end of 2022
With 655 MW of renewable energy capacity in operation as of December 31, 2021, and an additional 377 MW currently under construction, Qair is on the right track to meet its target of 1GW of units in operations by the end of 2022.
Alexandre Lambolez, CFO of Qair, said: “This first issue will improve the Group’s competitiveness and flexibility, giving Qair the means to continue executing its strategy. The proceeds of this issue will be used to accelerate our development and act for a greener planet. We thank the underwriters for the confidence shown in our teams and their support to accelerate the energy transition through Qair’s first green bond.“
