Germany : Qair secures largest wind farm in Bavaria

Independent renewable energy producer Qair has been awarded two tenders to develop a 288 MW wind farm project in the chemical triangle of Burghausen. The signed site securing agreement will enable the development of the largest wind farm in Bavaria.

An announcement event was organized on June 12 in the presence of Bavarian Minister President Dr. Markus Söder and Minister of Agriculture Michaela Kaniber, as well as Chairman of the Board of Bavarian State Forests, Martin Neumeyer and District Administrator of Altötting, Erwin Schneider.

Building on regional cooperation

Bayerische Staatsforsten’s decision to select Qair as its partner for this groundbreaking project underscores its confidence in the company’s expertise.

This project is an important milestone for Qair in Germany and for renewable energies in Bavaria. We are to build the largest wind farm in the Free State, which will supply the region with green electricity in the long term. As an independent power producer headquartered in Munich, we are particularly pleased to contribute to the decarbonization of energy generation and to further invest in our home state of Bavariaexplains Heike von der Heyden, Managing Director of Qair Germany.

The successful realization of the wind farm project is made possible by close cooperation with the municipalities, the district and the local companies.

Acting in partnership and involving all relevant local stakeholders are of great importance to us. Together we will develop innovative solutions to make a sustainable contribution to the energy supply for the region,” emphasizes Patrick Ecker, Head of Wind at Qair Germany.

Imminent launch of the project
the first approaches have already been made: Qair has met for talks with District Administrator Erwin Schneider as well as with the mayors of the seven participating municipalities to introduce themselves to each other and to exchange first questions as well as information.

The next steps will be wind measurements and necessary mapping for the sites, the compiled information supplemented by technical planning will then be submitted in an application according to the Federal Immission Control Act to the district office, the responsible approval authority.
