As part of Qair International, within our Construction and Procurement team of 8 people, the Construction Project Manager is responsible for and/or supports the Group’s subsidiaries abroad in preparing and overseeing the construction of wind, solar, BESS, and H2 projects from the time administrative permits are obtained (managed by the Development teams) to project commissioning.

The position is based in Montpellier, with travel required in France and internationally.

Main Tasks

The Construction Project Manager manages and/or supervises (depending on the level of autonomy of the subsidiaries) the following tasks:

  • Support the Group’s subsidiaries or partner companies in technical design, preparation, contracting, and construction monitoring of wind and solar projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality objectives are met;

  • Set up internal organization and participate in recruiting, training, and functionally managing subsidiary staff involved in construction;

  • Develop tailored models, track projects, and involve Group subsidiaries;

  • Lead the technical design and technological choices of projects to optimize technical and economic aspects (internally and/or subcontracted to external engineering firms);

  • Analyze and consider regulatory requirements related to construction in target countries;

  • Provide technical support during project development and financing phases;

  • Manage administrative and financial aspects of the pre-construction phase, including budget preparation, tendering, contract negotiations, and tracking construction budgets and schedules throughout the project lifecycle;

  • Manage/lead construction and procurement contracts, including amendments, disputes, and approvals, particularly for major packages (PV modules, BESS, wind turbines, turnkey EPC, and high-voltage substations);

  • Ensure the implementation of construction insurance policies and manage potential incidents during the construction phase;

  • Coordinate and oversee construction sites, managing subcontractors and suppliers;

  • Ensure compliance with QHSE standards in coordination with the Group’s QHSE Manager;

  • Depending on project organization, oversee Site Managers or delegated Construction Supervisors;

  • Handle administrative procedures related to construction and commissioning;

  • Manage grid connection processes and/or related works, with support from the Group’s Grid Connection Manager;

  • Supervise project commissioning, issue resolution, performance testing, and handover to the Group’s O&M department;

  • Manage project documentation;

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and work methods;

  • Provide feedback on projects;

  • Stay updated on technological advancements in the field;

  • Monitor new safety standards and regulatory constraints.

Skills Required

The following skills are essential for the role:

  • Expertise in renewable energy project management (planning, organization, reporting) during post-development execution phases;

  • Budget, schedule, and project risk management;

  • Ability to manage multicultural teams and work in complex environments;

  • Language skills: fluency in English;

  • Availability for frequent international travel.

 

The following skills will set you apart:

  • International experience or experience with international projects;

  • Experience with international financing;

  • In-depth knowledge of international contracts (FIDIC, NEC, etc.);

  • Strong technical expertise in renewable energy;

  • Additional language skills: Portuguese, German, or Polish.
