Qair becomes Official Partner of the Energy Observer Odyssey

Paris, February 4th, 2022 – The independent renewable energy producer Qair supports Energy Observer, the first hydrogen ship and the first French ambassador of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, by becoming an official partner of its round-the-world Odyssey for the next 3 years.

Linked by a common will to accelerate the energy transition through a technological, innovative and human project, Qair will bring to Energy Observer its international and multi-local vision of the development of responsible energy production ecosystems.

A laboratory for energy transition
Energy Observer is the name of the first autonomous and zero-emission hydrogen ship, both a plea and a laboratory for the ecological transition. A true flagship of future smart-grids, it is developing an optimized energy mix that mobilizes solar, wind and hydro-generation.

In each of these fields, the laboratory ship experiments, develops, optimizes and assembles the world’s most efficient components. It then stores its energy production in batteries and, above all, in a complete renewable hydrogen system produced from the electrolysis of sea water.

The development of reliable, sustainable, emission-free and economically accessible energy solutions are at the heart of the challenges of this round-the-world Odyssey.

Hydrogen to decarbonize maritime transport
The challenges of the marine environment are a major concern for Qair, a pioneer in floating wind power, winner of the 2022 Scottish offshore wind tender for 2GW and bidder in the South Brittany offshore wind tender, and the developer of a tidal power pilot project in the Alderney Race / Raz Blanchard.

This partnership is in line with the actions taken by Qair to study and preserve the marine environment in which it operates, and which are leading the group to support such an initiative aimed at decarbonizing and preserving the oceans.

To this end, Energy Observer will present a zero-emission cargo ship with disruptive technologies next week in Brest at the One Ocean Summit, the first international summit dedicated to ocean preservation and organized at the initiative of France.

“We are very pleased to count Qair among our official partners. Our collaboration is very consistent : Qair is an agile, international and versatile player in the field of renewable energy, just like Energy Observer! Its expertise will be precious for the continuation of our Odyssey around the world ” said Victorien Erussard, President and founder of Energy Observer.

“We are proud to join the Energy Observer Odyssey and to support this crew of passionate and inspiring experts. Their research and their journey will help accelerate the energy transition and fight against ocean pollution, two subjects that are at the heart of all Qair teams concerns” said Louis Blanchard, President of Qair.

About Energy Observer
Energy Observer is the name of the first hydrogen-powered, zero-emission vessel to be self-sufficient in energy, advocating and serving as a laboratory for ecological transition. The development of reliable, sustainable, emission-free, and economically accessible energy solutions is at the heart of our odyssey and our industrial subsidiary EODev. We have been sailing around the world for 7 years, stopping in iconic cities to meet pioneers who devote their energy to the development of sustainable solutions that respect the planet. As the first French ambassador for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN, our mission – reinforced by our endowment fund Energy Observer Foundation – is to raise awareness of the ecological transition issues and explore solutions that prove that another energy future is possible.

Energy Observer has received the High Patronage of Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic. It has the official support of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, UNESCO, the European Union, Irena, and Ademe. (https://www.energy-observer.org/)
