Qair inaugurates two renewable hydrogen stations in France, advancing Europe’s green hydrogen corridors

Paris, 12 May 2026 – Independent renewable energy company Qair announces the inauguration of its first hydrogen refuelling stations (HRS) in France, located in Béziers and Narbonne. These stations mark a milestone in the development of a robust, renewable hydrogen infrastructure at both regional and European levels, reinforcing the Group’s commitment to decarbonizing heavy-duty transport—a sector responsible for 6% of the EU’s CO₂ emissions. Aligned with the EU’s REPowerEU and Fit for 55 targets, the project positions Occitanie as a strategic hub for zero-emission logistics in Southern Europe.

A robust renewable hydrogen ecosystem

The new stations, strategically positioned along key logistics networks, are the first of their scale in the region. Each will supply up to 600 kg of renewable hydrogen per day, primarily serving light and heavy goods vehicles, coaches, buses, and commercial fleets, sectors where hydrogen offers a viable zero-emission alternative to fossil fuels.

This initiative is part of a cohesive renewable hydrogen ecosystem, which includes Hyd’Occ, France’s largest renewable hydrogen production unit, set to produce 2,700 tons per year in its initial 20 MW phase. With Hyd’Occ and the stations, Qair is contributing to a fully integrated value chain for the production, transport, and distribution of renewable hydrogen.

Decarbonising heavy-duty transport in Europe using renewable hydrogen

The Béziers and Narbonne stations were selected under the “Corridor H2 Occitanie” call for proposals, a joint initiative by the Occitanie Region, the European Investment Bank, and the European Union through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The project aims to establish a zero-emission European transport corridor, spanning from the Iberian Peninsula to Northern Europe, designed to serve heavy-duty transport with renewable hydrogen.

Expanding zero-emission transport beyond France

Qair’s commitment to green hydrogen extends beyond France. In Iceland, the Blær project involves the deployment of six hydrogen refuelling stations— two already operational in the Reykjavik area, with four more planned—to support hydrogen-powered trucks nationwide. To supply this network, Qair is developing a 2 MW electrolyzer in Grundartangi as part of a larger-scale e-molecule project.

Through these initiatives, the Group is strengthening its dedication to developing scalable green hydrogen ecosystems across Europe, establishing blueprints for large-scale hydrogen infrastructure that align with European decarbonisation objectives.
