Qair is proud to be part of this ambitious initiative to mix floating and jacket foundations as part of a cutting-edge offshore wind solution for Scotland. While the Ayre floating wind farm will be situated at a deepwater site east of Orkney and north of Caithness, the Bowdun fixed-bottom site will be located 44km off the coast of Aberdeenshire. Each wind farm is set to be composed of 40 to 60 turbines using next-generation technology in the range of 15 MW to 25 MW
Together, the two projects will play an important part in helping Scotland to achieve its target of carbon neutrality by 2045, while supporting Europe’s transition away from fossil fuels. In line with our commitment to involving local stakeholders, we will work hand-in-hand with the Scottish government, local communities and businesses to develop the necessary supply chain and expertise.
Our engineers are currently assessing the turbines and foundations, and we will be carrying out in-depth environmental surveys, including studies of marine mammals and seabirds, The beginning of construction work is scheduled for 2029.
