Qair, one of France’s 40 most promising impact unicorns

Paris, 1 April 2026 – Qair, an independent renewable energy company, is proud to announce its inclusion in the Impact 40/120 index as one of the 40 “impact unicorns”. This distinction recognises companies that combine economic performance with social and environmental impact, solidifying Qair’s position as a key player in the energy transition in France and Europe.

This recognition celebrates Qair Group’s commitment to providing sustainable, competitive and sovereign energy. A mission that is being realised through flagship projects such as Eolmed:

  • Eolmed, the only floating wind farm that is 80% made in France and 100% made in Europe. This project aims to demonstrate the financial and technical viability of floating wind power, acting as a catalyst for the future of the sector in France but also in Europe, where the company is currently developing over 8 GW of projects.
  • Hyd’Occ: France’s largest renewable hydrogen production facility located in Port-La Nouvelle, part of a comprehensive ecosystem that includes dedicated refuelling stations in Narbonne and Béziers. The project is part of the French ‘Corridor H2’ initiative, which aims to develop an integrated hydrogen production and distribution infrastructure for mobility, linking the Iberian Peninsula to northern Europe and supporting the deployment of heavy-duty hydrogen vehicles.

Impact 40/120 Index: a commitment to a responsible economy

The Impact 40/120 Index is compiled by Mouvement Impact France, a network of entrepreneurs and business leaders committed to an impact economy, in partnership with Les Échos, France’s leading financial newspaper.

Each year, the index selects 120 companies less than 10 years old that combine economic performance with a measurable impact on society or the environment. Of these 120, 40 are identified as the most promising to become ‘impact unicorns’ (young companies offering disruptive innovation, whose activities generate significant social or environmental benefits).

The selection criteria include:

  • Social or environmental impact (tonnes of CO2 avoided, number of beneficiaries, etc.);
  • Value sharing (wage gaps, employee share ownership);
  • Economic performance (growth, revenue, robustness of the business model).

By being selected, Qair joins a group of companies demonstrating that it is possible to reconcile competitiveness with sustainability, to become leaders in their field, whilst contributing to France’s ecological and social transition.

Qair has therefore added the Impact 40 label to the French Tech Next40, a list on which the Group has featured for two consecutive years. This government initiative identifies the most promising French companies, which are set to play a major role on the global stage. Collectively, these recognitions affirm Qair’s standing as one of France’s most high-impact and forward-thinking companies.
